Today we rewind to 2014 for the second Broadway revival of Les Miserables. Les Miserables opened on March 23 at the Imperial Theatre, where it ran for 1024 performances.
Directed by Gregg Edelman, this production features Carla Duren (Colleen Haran), Carson Elrod (Glen Geer), Penny Fuller (Lucinda Royal Scott), Samantha Hill (Summer Oliver), Dee Hoty (Joan Stern), and Count Stoval (Hal Polick). As they present the one-act plays, we can clearly see that, as their resumes suggest, these are skilled and talented performers. Unfortunately, with the exception of the character of Lucinda, the material does not provide the cast much opportunity to share that with us. The characters in and of themselves, are thinly developed. We don't have a chance to know them at more than a surface level nor to care.

Over the past three seasons, the Pigeon Creek Shakespeare Company has been making its way through Shakespeare's history plays. Since 2015, the company has performed Richard II, a conflation of the two parts of Henry IV, and Henry V. Now the company is tackling Henry VI, Shakespeare's epic story of the Wars of the Roses, which the playwright wrote in three full-length plays. Director David Little and company executive director Katherine Mayberry, who serves as dramaturge for this production, have created a script that combines sections of all three parts of Henry VI into a single production. The production will also include original music, performed by a Balladeer character who helps to guide the audience through the story. Musical composition is by actor Scott Lange, who also plays the Balladeer.
Drury Lane Theatre presents its first production of its 2018/2019 season, the Tony Award-winning musical South Pacific, with music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Oscar Hammerstein II and Josh Logan, and adapted from Tales of the South Pacific by James Michener.
Boasting an all-star cast, beautiful design, and a beloved score, Drury Lane Theatre's SOUTH PACIFIC provides a truly enchanting evening of theatre - both entertaining and thought-provoking as it addresses sobering themes such as racism and bigotry.
