National Women's Theatre Festival Announces Lineup For WTFringe23


The National Women's Theatre Festival (WTF), the nation's largest symposium on gender and theatre, has announced the full schedule of WTFringe23 which will be presented June 22-July 1 as part of their 8th annual festival.

Created in a collaborative process led by Jon Adam Ross and directed by Chantal Pavageaux, featuring a film directed and produced by Emmy-award winning filmmaker Ilana Trachtman (Praying with Lior), THE LEAH/RACHEL PLAY performs in rep (with four other plays) during a three-week limited engagement at The Theater at the 14th Street Y (344 E 14th St at 1st Ave, New York, NY 10003). Performances continue through Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

Hoping for a quick windfall of inheritance, Abe (Jon Dalin), a Wall Street stock jock, returns to the office of his recently deceased, estranged father searching for a lost deed. Among the piles of papers strewn about the office he doesn't find the deed. Instead he finds a scavenger hunt his father has left behind for him - and the audience holds the clues.

Three actors tell the ancient, sacred story of Sarah and Hagar, the mothers of Isaac and Ishmael, drawing from Muslim, Christian and Jewish traditions. The storytellers struggle to determine which religion's version of the narrative gets told, when there are multiple accounts of what happened.

Guthrie Director Joe Dowling today announced ten mainstage productions in his final season at the helm of the world renowned theater, culminating 20 years of remarkable leadership. The 2014-2015 lineup includes first-time Guthrie productions of plays by A.R. Gurney, Anne Washburn and Sarah Ruhl, three productions directed by Dowling, including a beloved Shakespeare comedy and iconic masterpieces by Arthur Miller and Sean O'Casey, the Guthrie debut of visionary writer and director Mary Zimmerman, as well as an all-American musical slated for summer.

The Drama League opened it doors at their new space on May 23rd with a ribbon cutting hosted by Judith Light. The focal point of The DramaLeague Theater Center is the Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley Studio Lab, a brand-new laboratory/development space for theater artists to create and hone work for future productions. It will also act as a flexible multi-purpose space for a variety of programming including educational opportunities, audience-focused series and special events. This will allow the Drama League to better serve the entire New York theater community - directors, audience, playwrights and actors. The Drama League Theater Center will offer artist residencies, play readings, open rehearsals, developmental workshops, lectures, classes, seminars, discussions, conferences, theatre-focused social gatherings and more.
