Preparation
Prepare a short rock song showing vocal range.
Bring book of music in case asked for an additional selection or 16 bars. Accompanist will be provided.
Bring a current headshot with resume stapled on reverse. Resume should include a cell number and email address.

SYNOPSIS: Girl meets bug in this original comic musical in the vein of Rocky Horror and Little Shop with an 80s inspired rock/pop score. An exterminator unleashes her potent insecticide accidentally turning New York's bedbugs into human size mutant creatures. She must reconcile with her childhood idol Canadian pop singer Dionne Salon in order to overcome her twisted romance and save the world!

FEMALE 1
CARLY: (Star Names Welcome, All types); Age Range: 25-40. (Leading lady with a strong sense of comedy. Carries the show. Moves well). A nerdy, lonely, disheveled scientist/exterminator with a dark secret in her soul and vengeance in her blood. She pushes the world away, but yearns for love deep in her heart.
Vocal type: Belt Rock, Range: comfortable high E, hopefully higher. Actress briefly plays YOUNG CARLY (age 10.)
FEMALE 2
MOTHER: Age Range: 25-45 (Moves well.) An 80s International Businesswoman. A workaholic, she is like a demon that cannot be satiated. Comic role.
Vocal type: High rock pop mix.

BEDBUG 2, a bloodthirsty, cougar-type bedbug
JOAN, a yuppie infested with bedbugs.
DINER LADY, a 'dyed in the wool New Yorker' who's seen everything. Thick New York accent.

BELINDA BEDFORD: Age Range: 20-45 (Dances) African American or Latina actress, an attractive, confident news reporter for a major local network. Comic role.

CONSUELA, a maid who has lost her job because her rich Upper East Side employers blamed her for their bedbug infestation.
MALE 1:
CIMEX (CAST): Age Range: 25-45 (Moves well.) The powerful sexual, rock-god leader of the mutant bedbugs. He seduces Carly to the dark side.
Vocal type: High rock belt/ scream. Low B to High B
MALE 2:
DIONNE SALON (CAST) : Age Range: 30-50.
A highly successful and highly successful and attractive French-Canadian pop singer struggling with dysfunctional marriage and an addiction to cheese. (Same actor or actress plays Young Dionne.)
Vocal Type: Pop Belt. Below middle C to high B flat. Sympathetic comic role.
MALE 3
BURT: Age Range: 20-30 (Moves well); Carly's adorable gay assistant, fresh out of college. Dorky and smart but unappreciated and lacking in confidence. It is revealed that he is Carly’s little brother.
Vocal type: Sweet high pop Tenor
MALE 4
DEXTER DIABOLIQUE: (Star Names Welcome.) Age Range: 35-65; the masculine, slick, charming, controlling husband of Canadian Pop sensation Dionne Salon. He discovered young Dionne at age 13 and made her a worldwide success. He knows he would be nowhere without Dionne. French Canadian accent. Comic role.
Vocal type: Gritty Rock bari-tenor.

MENACHEM, a Brooklyn Hasidic Jewish man whose family has been stricken with a mean case of bedbugs.
BEDBUG 3, a clumsy, brutish bedbug
MALE 5
MASON: Age Range: 20-35 (Dances.) A vegan, gay Brooklyn hipster. Extremely obnoxious, drugged out, judgmental, smart. Character will be sporting ironic facial hair, whether real or fake. Comic role.
Vocal type: Light rock pop tenor
