Spamalot, winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical and lovingly ripped off from the hilarious film classic "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," returns to taunt Minneapolis March 15-16, 2013. Rock of Ages, the awesomely good time told through the hit '80s songs of Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner and more, will play a limited engagement May 17-19, 2013. They are presented by Hennepin Theatre Trust as special additions to their 2012/13 Broadway Across America-Minneapolis Season.
Spinning the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and their quest for the Holy Grail, Monty Python's Spamalot features a chorus line of dancing divas and knights, flatulent Frenchmen, killer rabbits and one legless knight. It is based on the Tony Award-winning direction of Mike Nichols, the riotous choreography of Casey Nicholaw and a book by Eric Idle. The original cast recording of Monty Python's Spamalot won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small-town girl met a big city dreamer and in L.A.'s most legendary rock club, they fell in love to the greatest songs of the '80s. Rock of Ages, the funny, feel-good love story told through the hit songs of iconic rockers, was nominated for five Tony Awards. Recently made into a movie starring Tom Cruise, it is a worldwide phenomenon with productions on Broadway and in London. It is directed by Tony Award nominee Kristin Hanggi, written by Chris D'Arienzo and choreographed by Kelly Devine.
