Sally Wingert, Michelle Barber, and More Set for OTHER DESERT CITIES at Guthrie Theater

The Guthrie Theater today announced complete casting for its production of Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. The production will be directed by Peter Rothstein and will feature actors Sally Wingert (Broadway/West End, London: La Bête, Guthrie: Appomattox, Charley's Aunt) as Polly Wyeth, Michelle Barber (Guthrie: Roman Holiday, Caroline, or Change) as Silda Grauman and David Anthony Brinkley (Guthrie: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Scottsboro Boys) as Lyman Wyeth in a contemporary and politically charged dramedy by the acclaimed playwright whose television credits include the compelling dramas "Brothers and Sisters" and "The West Wing."

Other Desert Cities also features Christian Conn (The Acting Company: Pudd'nhead Wilson and The Taming of the Shrew) and Kelly McAndrew (Broadway: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof; Off-Broadway: Still Life, MCC Theater, Book of Days, Signature Theatre) in their Guthrie debuts as brother and sister Brooke and Trip Wyeth.

Winner of the 2012 Drama League Award and Tony Award nominee for Best Play, Other Desert Cities centers on the arrival home for the holidays of Brooke Wyeth to visit her parents, brother and aunt. When she announces that she's about to publish a memoir, a hidden event in the family's history is brought to the surface amid conflict and unresolved feelings, leading to an ending that has left audiences stunned and talking everywhere the play has appeared. The New York Times called Other Desert Cities "the best new play on Broadway."

The artistic team includes Peter Rothstein (Director), James Youmans (Set Designer), Rich Hamson (Costume Designer), Paul Whitaker (Lighting Designer), Scott W. Edwards (Sound Designer), Jo Holcomb (Dramaturg), Lucinda Holshue (Voice and Dialect Coach), Chris A. Other Desert Cities begins preview performances on February 9, opens February 15 and continues through March 24, 2013 on the McGuire Proscenium Stage at the Guthrie Theater.
