STAGE TUBE: Children's Theatre Company Catches 'The Grinch' on Camera

Sightings of a mysterious green figure wearing a Santa suit have been occurring throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul, and activity has been traced back to Children's Theatre Company (CTC) and its current tenant, The Grinch (Grinch). Photographs of Grinch creating chaos in CTC offices and the Whittier neighborhood were found by CTC staff on Monday, October 29. Surveillance camera footage confirms that Grinch has been sneaking around the Target lobby, stealing Dr. Seuss merchandise from kiosks. CTC announced in a recent email broadcast that the holiday cheer threat level has been raised. Watch footage of Grinch caught on camera below!

In addition to his unwelcome physical presence around the Minneapolis Institute of Arts facility, Grinch has also hacked into CTC's social media and hijacked the Facebook and Twitter pages. Control of the e-mail system has been maintained thus far, but CTC discourages the viewing of any Facebook or Twitter posts as they are likely to contain malicious anti-Christmas content and shameless self-promotion on the part of Grinch. Outside of CTC offices, the Grinch's attempts to tamper with Twin Cities landmarks such as Minneapolis Sculpture Garden's "Spoonbridge and Cherry" puts the Grinch's holiday grudge onto a larger scale. Grinch's 5-point plan to steal Christmas also includes a visit to mayors' offices to attempt to pass legislation to ban Christmas.

CTC is taking a firm stance against the miscreant and his antics. "This Grinch nonsense has gone too far," says Database Administrator Scott Herron. According to Herron, "He has disrupted the daily activity at CTC but our staff is stepping up their game. We will continue our holiday fundraising efforts despite his attempts to infiltrate our messaging. He leaves photos of himself around, as if to taunt us, but we will not succumb to this harassment or stand by and watch him cancel Christmas." Tickets to CTC's production of Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas are selling at an alarming rate, which is only encouraging the Grinch's maniacal behavior.

The Children's Theatre Company would like to stress that any views or opinions about Christmas expressed by the Grinch through any medium are his own and do not represent CTC's views and opinions about the holiday season. The company, as a whole, welcomes Christmas cheer and would like to see everyone have a happy holiday season. More information will be available as further developments occur.

Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas runs November 6 - December 30 on the UnitedHealth Group Stage. As part of CTC's commitment to programming for ages two through eighteen, Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas is recommended for all ages. Tickets are on sale now starting at $10. Affordable subscription packages are also available. For more information, go to childrenstheatre.org or call the Ticket Office at 612.874.0400.

Children's Theatre Company (CTC) is the first theatre for young people to win the coveted Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theater (2003). Founded in 1965, CTC serves more than 300,000 people annually and is one of the 20 largest theater companies in the nation. The company is noted for defining worldwide standards for youth theatre with an innovative mix of classic tales, celebrated international productions and challenging new work.
