Mixed Blood Theatre Announces Administrative Changes

-Mixed-Blood-Theatre-Announces-Administrative-Changes-20010101

The Mixed Blood Theatre Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Amanda White Thietje as Managing Director to launch the company's 37th season.  She steps into the position following the retirement of Pj Doyle, Managing Director since 2009.  Concurrently, long-time Mixed Blood Director of Touring Charlie Moore will assume the newly-created position of General Manager.

Thietje joined Mixed Blood in September 2011 as Director of Radical Hospitality, overseeing the launch of the theatre's no-cost admission initiative.  She came to Minneapolis from New York City, where she worked on the Major Gifts team at Lincoln Center and in play development for a Broadway producing team.  Most recently, she served as Associate Artistic Director at the William Inge Center for the Arts through a TCG New Generations/Future Leaders grant.  With a Master's degree from Columbia University's Program in Arts Administration and training at The School at Steppenwolf Theatre Company, she has worked in development, marketing, production, literary management and producing at regional theatre companies throughout the United States.  She also holds an MFA in acting from Minnesota State University, Mankato.

Thietje said, "It's been an honor to be a part of the launch of Radical Hospitality; it's a revolutionary effort in the American theatre, and it works.  In fact, it has become part of Mixed Blood's DNA.  I look forward to pursuing Mixed Blood's egalitarian mission in new and exciting ways this season."

Thietje will take the helm as successor to Pj Doyle, an award winning author, poet and past president of the Minnesota Writers Workshop. In retirement, Doyle will pursue her efforts as a national volunteer for the American Red Cross, where she serves as a liaison officer and an instructor in International Humanitarian Law.

Charlie Moore joined the Mixed Blood staff in 1984 as its Marketing Director, responsible for finding and attracting audiences for all of Mixed Blood's performances, in its Alan Page Auditorium and off-site.  In the 1990s, due to his own successes, he became the Director of Touring; under his direction, Mixed Blood's touring program has presented over 9,000 performances in 31 years.  As General Manager, Moore will also have responsibilities in finance, fundraising, and facilities.

Artistic Director Jack Reuler said, " These two trusted partners can plan, implement, analyze, manage and problem solve in creative ways that will lead to successful mission-realizing activities and institutional longevity."

Mixed Blood has invited the global village into its audience and onto its stage for its unique brand of challenging, inclusive and predictably unpredictable theatre since 1976.  With programming in its historic firehouse in Minneapolis, in satellite venues throughout the Upper Midwest, and in the national workplace, Mixed Blood uses theatre to spawn a ripple effect of social change.
