Minnetonka Theatre Presents ANYTHING GOES, 7/21-8/6

Minnetonka Theatre is taking it to the high seas this July as they present the zany romantic adventure Anything Goes on the Arts Center on 7's Main Stage. This production marks the on-stage reunion of two Twin Cities musical theatre favorites-Jody Briskey as Reno Sweeney, the evangelist-turned-nightclub singer, and Tod Petersen as Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, the wealthy and soon-to-be wEd Englishman.

"I auditioned for Tod's A Christmas Carole Petersen a few years ago and the friendship bond began," explains Briskey. Petersen continues, "We have done so many great shows together. I actually call Jody my theater wife!" The friends' credits together include Midlife: The Crisis Musical at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres and Gypsy at Theater Latté Da, in which Briskey's starring role earned her Star Tribune's Outstanding Actress in a Musical award.

Joining Petersen and Briskey will be Ryan McCartan, 2011 Presidential Scholar of the Arts and star of Minnetonka High School's The Phantom of the Opera, and Brooke Kilgarriff, Boston Conservatory graduate and also Miss Minnesota 2009. In addition to the popular title track, Minnetonka Theatre's interpretation of the 1962 revival of Anything Goes will deliver the hit songs "You're the Top", "I Get a Kick Out of You", "Let's Misbehave", and "It's DeLovely".

About Anything Goes
Since its debut in 1934, Anything Goes has become a theatre and fan favorite. The tap dancing comedy follows gangsters, heiresses, and everyone in between as they set off on the S.S. American, an ocean liner crossing from New York to London. It has inspired two film versions and five revivals, including the 1988 Tony Award winner for Best Revival and the Roundabout Theatre Company's production that has earned 9 Tony nominations since opening on Broadway in April. Music and lyrics are by Cole Porter, the Tin Pan Alley composer known for Kiss Me, Kate and other famous jazz standards like "I've Got You Under My Skin" and "Let's Do It (Let's Fall In Love)".
