Guthrie's 2012-2013 Season Includes Tony-Nominated Roger Rees, OTHER DESERT CITIES & CLYBOURNE PARK

The Guthrie's 2012-13 season features three major Tony Award nominees, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning play Clybourne Park by Bruce Norris and Other Desert Cities by Jon Robin Baitz, which were both nominated for Best Play. The Guthrie's upcoming season also features Roger Rees as director of Crispin Whittell's new play The Primrose Path. Rees has been nominated for a 2012 Tony Award for Best Direction of a Play for his work on Peter and the Starcatcher.

The Guthrie also congratulates Tracie Bennett, nominated for Best Actress in a Play for her bravura performance of Judy Garland in End of the Rainbow, and Michael Cumpsty for his nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Play in his turn as Anthony-Judy Garland's loyal pianist. End of the Rainbow made its American Premiere on the McGuire Proscenium Stage from January 28 through March 11, 2012, before heading to Broadway.

The 66th Annual Tony Awards will be presented on Sunday, June 10 at the Beacon Theater in New York City. The awards ceremony will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris and the telecast will begin at 8 p.m. EST/ 7 p.m. CST on CBS.

The American Theatre Wing's Tony Awards are presented by Tony AwaRD Productions, a joint venture of The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing. The two organizations have jointly administered the Tonys since 1967, the year of the first Tony telecast. Responsibility
for the governance and administration of the awards is vested in two committees: The Tony Awards Management Committee is made up of representatives of the League and the Wing. It oversees the Tony Awards, with emphasis on the television broadcast. The Tony Awards Administration Committee is comprised of 24 members, of whom 10 are designated by the Wing, 10 by the League, and one each by the Dramatists Guild, Actors' Equity Association, United Scenic Artists, and the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers. This committee determines eligibility for nominations in all awards categories, reviews the rules governing the awards, and appoints the Nominating Committee. It may, at its discretion, bestow non-competitive Tony Awards including Special Tony Awards, the Regional Theatre Tony Award, and the Isabelle Stevenson Award; as well as Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre.
