David Sedaris, internationally acclaimed New York Times bestselling author and National Public Radio humorist, returns by popular demand for his annual visit to the State Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014. With sardonic wit and incisive social critiques, Sedaris is one of America's pre-eminent humor writers with more than seven million copies of his books in print. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18. Visit HennepinTheatreTrust.org or call 1.800.982.2787 for tickets or more information.

Sedaris is the author of many titles, including the recent bestseller, "Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls," and other collections of essays such as "Me Talk Pretty One Day," "Barrel Fever" and "Holidays On Ice." Sedaris's pieces appear regularly in The New Yorker and have twice been included in "The Best American Essays." A collection of fables entitled "Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk: A Modest Bestiary" (with illustrations by Ian Falconer), was published in September 2010 and immediately hit the New York Times bestseller fiction list. His original radio pieces are often heard on "This American Life" on Minnesota Public Radio.

He has collaborated with his sister, Amy Sedaris, under the name "The Talent Family" writing six plays which have been produced at La Mama, Lincoln Center and The Drama Department in New York City. These plays include "Stump the Host," "Stitches," "One Woman Shoe" (which received an Obie Award), "Incident at Cobbler's Knob" and "The Book of Liz," which was published in book form by Dramatists Play Service.

Sedaris has been nominated for three Grammy Awards, two for Best Spoken Word Albums, "Let's Explore Diabetes With Owls" and "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim," and another for Best Comedy Album, "David Sedaris: Live at Carnegie Hall." A feature film adaptation of his story "C.O.G." premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2013. The great skill with which he slices through cultural euphemisms and political correctness proves that Sedaris is a master of satire and one of today's most observant writers addressing the human condition.

David Sedaris will speak at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the State Theatre (805 Hennepin Ave.). Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014 and range from $36.50 to $46.50 depending on seating preference. All prices include applicable facility fees. Additional service charges may apply.
